일터에서 만나는 진·선·미 Truth, Goodness, and Beauty Found in the Workplace

사랑하는 성도 여러분,한 주간의 삶의 자리에서, 특히 치열한 일터에서 수고가 많으십니다!

지난 주일에 에베소서 6장 말씀을 통해, 우리의 일터에서 '진·선·미'의 하나님을 어떻게 만날 수 있는지 함께 말씀을 살펴봤습니다. 월요일 아침 출근 길 혹은 분주한 일상 속에서, 이 질문들을 생각해보면 어떨까요?

첫째, 진(眞) — "나는 지금 누구 앞에서 일하고 있나요?"

진은 '하나님의 눈'입니다. 사람의 눈치만 보며 일하면 쉽게 지치고 억울해지지만, 살아계신 하나님 앞에서 일하고 있다는 진리를 붙잡으면 요셉처럼 흔들리지 않을 수 있습니다. 하나님의 눈으로 바라보면 내 옆의 동료도 달라 보이지 않을까요? 우리는 금수저(?) 흙수저(?)가 아니라 예수님의 보혈로 산 바가 된 존귀한 성도입니다. 진리가 우리를 자유케 하셔서 하나님 앞에서 기품 있게 살아가는 여유를 누리시기를 축복합니다.

둘째, 선(善) — "오늘 내 손을 통해 누가 돌봄을 받았나요?"

선은 '하나님의 손'입니다. 하나님은 엄마의 손, 의사의 손, 선생님의 손, 그리고 우리 성도님들의 손과 발을 통해 세상을 다스리고 돌보십니다. 온 세상을 창조하시고 ‘참으로 좋았더라!’ 하신 하나님께서 우리의 손을 통해 선하게 섭리하고 계십니다. 우리의 일터를 '나를 위해’를 넘어서 '하나님께서 쓰시도록' 내어 드리고 올려 드릴 때 우리 일터가 달라지지 않을까요? ‘위선’이 감히 넘보지 못하게 진짜 ‘선’이 가득한 하루 하루 되시길 축복합니다.

셋째, 미(美) — "오늘 일터에서 감탄하고 감사한 순간이 있었나요?"

미는 '하나님의 감탄'입니다. 너무나 좋으신 하나님은 우리에게 유용하기만 한 분(Useful)이 아니라, 존재 자체로 아름다운 분(Beautiful)이십니다. 그 누구도 나의 노력을 몰라줘도 하나님은 우리의 수고와 눈물을 아실 뿐만 아니라 갚으십니다. 그 은혜 볼 때 아름다우신 하나님의 얼굴을 보게 됩니다. 깨진 그릇을 금으로 이어 붙여 더 가치 있게 만드는 '킨츠기'처럼, 하나님은 우리의 실패와 부족함마저도 아름답게 완성하시는 분입니다. 그렇게 평범한 일상에 비범한 God Moment를 기대하며 우리의 일터에 진선미가 가득하시길 축원합니다.

“사람에게가 아니라 주님께 하듯이, 기쁜 마음으로 섬기십시오.” (에베소서 6:7)

일을 시작하기 전 이 한 마디를 믿음으로 선포하면 어떨까요?

"나는 지금 하나님 앞에서, 하나님의 손으로, 하나님을 기대하며 일합니다."

깨진 그릇도 금으로 이어 붙이시는 역전의 하나님께서, 우리 성도님들의 한 주를 아름답게 빚어가시리라 믿습니다. 성도님들의 각각의 일터가 하나님의 임재 가득한 예배의 자리가 되기를 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다!

Dear beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

I pray that you are all doing well as you labor in your places of life this week, especially in the midst of your fierce and busy workplaces!

This past Sunday, through the message in Ephesians 6, we looked at how we can encounter the God of 'Truth, Goodness, and Beauty' right where we work. As you commute on a Monday morning or navigate your busy daily routine, I invite you to ponder these three questions:

First, Truth (眞) — "Before whom am I working right now?" Truth is 'God’s eyes.' When we work solely to please people, we easily become exhausted and resentful. However, when we hold onto the truth that we are working before the living God, we can stand unshaken, just like Joseph. Furthermore, when we view things through God’s eyes, wouldn't our coworkers look different to us? We are not defined by earthly status—whether born with a silver spoon or a wooden spoon—but we are precious saints bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. May the Truth set you free, and I bless you to enjoy the margin and dignity that comes from living before God.

Second, Goodness (善) — "Who was cared for through my hands today?" Goodness is 'God’s hands.' God rules over and cares for the world through a mother's hands, a doctor's hands, a teacher's hands, and through the hands and feet of you, His saints. The God who created the whole world and declared, "It is very good!" is working out His good providence through our hands today. When we surrender and lift up our workplaces—moving beyond 'for myself' to 'for God's use'—won't our workplaces begin to change? I bless you that your day-to-day lives will be so full of true 'goodness' that hypocrisy will not even dare to approach.

Third, Beauty (美) — "Was there a moment of wonder and gratitude in my workplace today?" Beauty is 'God’s exclamation of wonder.' Our wonderful God is not merely a 'useful' God to us; He is fundamentally a 'beautiful' God in His very essence. Even if no one else notices your efforts, God not only knows your labor and tears, but He also rewards them. When we behold that grace, we come to see the beautiful face of God. Just like Kintsugi—the art of mending broken pottery with gold to make it even more valuable—God is the One who beautifully completes and restores even our failures and shortcomings. Expecting these extraordinary 'God Moments' in our ordinary, daily lives, I pray that your workplaces will be overflowing with Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.

“rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man” (Ephesians 6:7)

Before you begin your work, why not declare this single sentence in faith?

"I am working right now before God, with the hands of God, and expecting great things from God."

I believe that our God of turnaround—who mends even broken pottery with gold—will beautifully shape and mold your week ahead. I sincerely bless you and pray that each of your unique workplaces will become a sacred space of worship, filled to overflowing with the presence of God!
